- I'm not sure I can diagnose a glue head from these spoutings
- but I can say that USR support is pitiful. The disconnects
- are a major drag. I spent two weeks adjusting my
- initialization string so I didn't get disconnects every 3-5
- minutes. Now I get them only about once every 30 min to an
- hour if I am lucky. I don't feel like screwing with the
- string anymore. I'm told it may partially be due to the
- modem on the other end but I can't excuse USR for that.
- The best advice I can give to a modem buyer is that if you
- are mainly going to use it for tcp/ip internet connection
- then find out what kind of modems your provider uses and buy
- that brand and pay for the lowest priced model that comes
- with flash bios changeability (250- 400$). I will not being
- buying USR again.
